Aishwarya Rai is known as the world’s most beautiful woman, but going by this rumor she would soon be known as the world’s most beautiful singer too.

Ash is all set to play a classical singer in Mani Ratnam’s next flick, Raavan. The film is based on Ramayana.

A source says, Aishwarya will be learning classical singing for this role. Ideally, she’d like to sing all her songs in Raavan, herself. She’s a very good singer in real life. But not good enough to sing classical songs on screen with aplomb. So, like Shabana Azmi in Morning Raga Aishwarya intends to take lessons in how to look convincing as a singer. She’ll be regularly taking lessons in classical singing from a guru.”

Aishwarya Rai is planning to watch sasu-ma’s Abhimaan to take some hints from her, “She wants to make sure she doesn’t goof up in the scenes in which she’ll be singing on screen,” adds the source.

The source further adds, “Ash was in any case planning to see Abhimaan again because Rajiv Menon is remaking Abhimaan with her and Abhishek in the lead role.Now, she’ll be observing her mother-in-law even more closely to take tips on how to look convincing as a singer.”

SRK plays a boring regular guy in his forthcoming flick Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,

“I play this normal, regular guy. He is that sort of character whom people meet in everyday life; there is nothing fancy, attractive or interesting about him. This role therefore required me to keep things simple, whether it was the look, make up and even my demeanor,” he said.

“The most boring, normal guys are the best lovers,” hinted Shahrukh.

And he feels the same about himself in real life. He may have played larger than life characters but strictly calls himself a regular and boring guy, no wonder he is known as the greatest lovers of Bollywood.

Looks like now SRK has become quite a pro in the art of loving!

Riya Sen, who wasn’t otherwise quite professional with her work, has had a sudden fit of professionalism. Perhaps it has something to do with the big banners and directors she is working for.

She had been continuously shooting for Rituparno Ghosh’s Abohoman and a short film directed by students of Subhash Ghai’s film school. Hectic schedules took a toll over Riya’s health and she fell sick with 102 degree fever.

But she co-operated with the students because they had a limited budget and time constraints. She kept shooting despite her fever.

Now wouldn’t I call that a fit of professionalism. Of course I would!

Lara Dutta, who is currently single after recently splitting from her boyfriend of nine-years Kelly Dorjee, has her eyes set on Dino Morea. The couple have been spotted visiting an art gallery and a cinema together recently along with a few other places. But Lara still doesn’t want to admit whats brewing between the two.

Says Lara, “I hang out with Dino, I’m not denying that. He lives two streets away and we go out together. But until I have a huge rock on my finger, I’m not married. I’ve come out of a really long relationship with Kelly Dorje and I’m not willing or ready to make any sort of commitment. I was in a committed live-in relationship with Kelly. Right now, I’m not looking for more of that. At the moment, I’m having fun because I’m young. Dino and I have known each other forever. We used to hang around in a group that also included Bipasha. However if a 10-carat rock is offered to me, we’ll see.”

Lol… Looks like the ex-Miss Universe has her priorities right in this matter.

During the shooting of Kidnap in Mauritius involved scenes where she was required to take a dip in the sea. During one such shot, so engrossed was Minissha in her mid-sea swim that she did not realize that the currents had pushed her far from where she was supposed to be.

The entire crew panicked as she wasn’t anywhere in the frame because with the underwater currents she was pushed about 2 kilometers away from the coastline and the water babe was blissfully unaware of the situation.

It took the crew of Kidnap a good ten minutes to finally spot the Minissha in the see before they finally sent speedboat to get her back her immediately!

Director Sanjay Gadhvi confirmed the news. “It was scary to say the least but all’s well that ends well!” he remarked.

Kidnap would be a grand Eid attraction as it is releasing on 1st Oct.

Actresses only dream of working with a director like Shyam Benegal and Amrita has got lucky enough to bag a vital role in Benegal’s first comedy ever – Welcome To Sajjanpur.

I am super duper excited [laughs]. Being a part of a Shyam Benegal movie is a high point for me. He is somebody who is liked and revered by everyone in my community. In fact, not many people know that we belong to the same community and we speak the same language (Konkani). So, people like Girish Karnad, Ananth Nag and Shyam Benegal have always been looked up to.

Then, of course, I saw Zubeidaa when I was studying and it is one I still count among my favourite films. So when Shyamji called me for this role, I didn`t ask him any questions—I just said yes to the film. Because I so wanted to be on board under his direction.

“I play the character of Kamala in the film”, she explains. She is illiterate and cannot read or write. She plays a potter and it`s a very rustic, earthy, rural Indian character. Sajjanpur is her world, she cannot see beyond it because she has never ventured out,” says Amrita.

And Amrita has worked quite hard to get into the skin of her character. She dressed down as a simple village belle in ghagra cholis, her character had to look darker so she wore makeup that would make her look darker than she is, she also had to learn pottery because her character makes pottery for a living. And adding another feat to this long list is that Amrita along with other actors tried hard to learn the Bagelkhandi dialect of Hindi.

We hope this movie takes Amrita to new heights as an actress.

Himesh Reshammiya has decided to go a step further to keep up his hero status with the people who made him famous as an actor and singer – the cabbies and the auto rickshaw walas.

You may find autowalahs putting up posters of Himesh inside their autos and playing his music on their terrible music system all through your tragic journey.

Himesh Reshammiya’s next movie as a hero is releasing on October 17th and before that he plans to have a contest.

Says a source in T-Series, “Himesh has always had a huge fan following among the rickshaw and cab drivers. They love him, his songs and consider him to be their hero. For his debut film, Aap Kaa Surroor too, the singer-turned-actor had done his bit for his large fan following. He shot the climax scene with three rickshaw drivers. This time, Himesh has conceptualised an all-India event for the cabbie and auto drivers. The drivers will have to submit a Xerox of their ID with their entry forms.”

Himesh is also very excited about all this -

“I owe my success to all my cabbie and auto driver brothers all over India, and as tribute, and I want to do this Karzzzz show. I want to do something for each one who has been responsible for my success! The contest is a great way of reciprocating my feelings towards them. I don’t know who else is performing but I will be singing four songs from Karzzzz. It’s going to be a big event and the drivers will be given free passes to attend. We are still finalising the event details but it will definitely be held before the release.”

This way one day Himesh will end up like Mithun Chakraborty. Because if doesn’t stop singing in his own songs people will be too disgusted to see him in his films. And his fan following will be solely restricted to Auto rickshaw walas.

Film Federation of India (FFI) head Suneel Darshan confirmed the news of Taare Zameen Par being chosen as India’s entry for Oscars over eight other contenders namely – Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Jodhaa Akbar, Farhan Akhtar’s Rock On, Subhash Ghai’s Black and White, Nishikant Kamat’s Mumbai Meri Jaan, Neeraj Pandey’s A Wednesday, Telugu film Ghanyam, Marathi films Tingya and Valu.

The theme and plot of Taare Zameen Par is likely to impress the jury of the Oscars for being a very universal theme yet being so Indian. What is more impressive is the handling of such a sensitive subject by Aamir Khan, who was just making his directorial debut.

We really hope this movie brings an Oscar home… In that case, Aamir Khan will officially become the crowned Badshaah of Bollywood with all the International recognition.
