A female poker winner has published a novel detailing her experiences in the male dominated world of poker tournaments. Victoria Coren, who won the European Championship at the age of thirty three and scooped the one million pound prize, has published the book, which is entitled For Richer, For Poorer: A Love Affair with Poker. It is serialised in part in a national newspaper, which has already carried a piece on the publication and given a small profile of Ms Coren.
Ms Coren has done extremely well, and has effectively shattered the glass ceiling that surrounds casino gaming and the world of gambling in general. In a world that is dominated by men, it is unusual to find a woman who has dedicated her life to poker in this way. However, Ms Coren appears to be the exception. Women are gaining a foot in poker world where they previously were not included, however, and a number of women have been placed highly in both national and international poker competitions. Now some of the most highly paid poker players in the world are in fact females, which is a clear departure from the old world of poker, which was very much a man's game.
Ms Coren's love of the game began when she was a teenager, and was invited to play poker with her older brother and his friends. She then went on to play in tournaments, and found her biggest success when she won the Europe wide Championship competition recently.
For Richer, For Poorer: A Love Affair with Poker details all the experienced that Ms Coren has had with the game, both good and bad. Luckily with the success that she has had in tournaments and the fact that she has now secured this book deal, it appears that most of her experiences have been good ones. Certainly it looks as though she can look forward to further successes in the future.
